The upcoming film of The first footage of David Fincher’s The Killer makes its way online. The film will star Michael Fassbender as the supposed killer caught in the middle of an international manhunt.

Tilda Swinton, who starred in Doctor Strange, will also appear in the film, but her role has yet to be reveal. The thriller is based on Alexis Nolent’s French visual novel of the same name, which was publish into 12 albums, but there is still little detail about the film and what it plans to acclimate from the novel – until now.

Netflix has published the first-look video of Fincher’s forthcoming action picture with a sizzle reel of its future 2023 releases.

While intensely brief, the footage sees Fassbender’s killer in the middle of two tightly choreographed fight series, as a voiceover narration says, “Don’t improvise. Trust no one.” The sizzle reel also corroborates on November 10 that the movie will release on the streaming service.

Everything We Know About The Killer

While not much is presently known about The Killer, the film’s official plot summary will see Fassbender’s character on a manhunt after a near-miss puts himself & his employers on blast.

Along with Fassbender and Swinton, the picture will also star Kerry O’Malley as Dolores and Charles Parnell as Hodges, with the latter most recently appearing as Rear Admiral Solomon “Warlock” Bates in Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick.

Cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt has also joined the project, who earlier collaborated with Fincher on 2020’s Mank and on his Mindhunter sequence for 16 episodes.

Frequent Fincher collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will contain the score. The two earlier collaborated with Fincher on The Girl with the Dragon TattooThe Social Network,  Gone Girl, and Mank.

Reznor and Ross both won an Institute Award for Best Original Score for The Social Network & were nominated in 2021 for their score on Mank.

Screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker is also the author of The Killer after earlier collaborating with Fincher on one of his most successful films, Seven, which pushed the director to celebrity after Alien 3 received negative reviews.

The film has been developing since 2007, with Fincher initially announcing that he would be directing the Film with Paramount Pictures distributing & Alessandro Camron writing the screenplay.

There have been other movies in which Fincher was connected as a filmmaker but never panned out, such as World War Z 2, which eventually got cancelled.

However, after the success of Mank, Fincher signed a four-year exclusive deal with Netflix, and The Killer evolved his next project. From the small bit of footage, the film looks like an intense action-thriller with an effective presentation from Fassbender.

Given that The Killer covered up filming in March 2022, the release date and its features on Netflix’s preview is a promising signs that the nail-biter will finally come out this year.
