About FPA Women’s Health
FPA Women’s Health has been a nationally renowned and AAAHC-accredited women’s healthcare organization for almost 40 years, with 23 locations throughout California.
Family Planning Associates Medical Group (now FPA Women’s Health) was established in 1969, shortly after abortion was legalized in California. It was known as the Avalon-Slauson Medical Group at the time. Avalon Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles provided all pregnancy terminations and other medical procedures.
Abortion was only authorize in several states if the pregnancy’s continuation would endanger the woman’s life. Because California’s abortion laws were very liberal, many women travelled from Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and other states to obtain legal abortions.
FPA’s hallmarks are professionalism and excellence. Our doctors specialize in gynaecology and only work for FPA. The offices are outfitted with current medical equipment and a pleasant and welcoming environment.
