7.30.10 Tina's Thoughts for the Week
As a teacher, I see so many lonely children. I try to make them feel included and loved each day in my classroom. One of the reasons is a story I read years ago about a little girl who lived in an orphanage. She was not attractive and had some annoying habits that resulted in her being shunned by the children and disliked by the staff. The director of the orphanage looked for a good excuse to ship her off to another institution.
For some time it been suspected that she was writing notes to people outside the orphanage. Before she was transferred, the director’s suspicions were confirmed. One of the children came to his office and reported that she saw the girl writing a note and tacking it onto a tree near the stone wall outside the dormitory. The director hurried to the tree and sure enough, he found the note he was looking for that would show his board of directors that the girl indeed, had to go. After he read it, he passed it on to his assistant without saying a word. The note read, “To whoever finds this: I love you.” Does anyone really know what is inside another person? How many times have we misjudged the actions of a person before we truly get to know what makes him/her tick? This is the true breeding ground for prejudice! There’s the old saying, “Humanity never changes.” Let’s hope, after reading this article today, some of us change. My question for our readers this week is: “Who have we misjudged this week?” Discover the good news for your future: CLICK HERE
