A man stabs himself and dies
Mohave County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of an Alexander Stephens, 33, of Beaver Dam. Monday afternoon 12/21, at about 4:00 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the 700 block of Old Pioneer Road.
Dispatch advised that the reporting party said that her brother was breaking things at the residence. Deputies arrived and observed a male subject, later identified as Stephens, retrieve a large kitchen knife and stab himself in the chest. Stephens immediately pulled the knife out of his chest and threw it at the deputy as he ran out the back door. The deputy followed Stephens. Stephens became combative toward the deputy and he would not comply with the deputy’s commands. A taser was eventually used to place Stephens into custody. The deputy immediately attempted first-aid on Stephens self-inflicted knife wound. Medical responded and transported Stephens to Mesa View Hospital in Mesquite Nevada where he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The investigation continues and autopsy results are pending.
