12.09 Oatman - Oatman Outlaws greet Sheriff Sheahan with bikes

Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan had a special engagement in Oatman on Wednesday. Sheahan was greeted by the “Oatman Outlaws” with a generous donation.

For the past 10 years, the “Oatman Outlaws” have donated bicycles to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. The MCSO personnel work with the Kingman Salvation Army to collect and distribute bikes for underprivileged children in Mohave County during the holiday season.

The Outlaws earn donations throughout the year from the public by staging an exciting gunfight show at high noon and 2:15 each day in the historic mining town of Oatman on Route 66. This gunfight show can be quite loud, but what’s a gunfight show without shots fired?

The group, headed by Rod “Outlaw Willie” Hall and his wife, Sultana, presented Sheriff Sheahan with their donation of 20 bicycles. Sheahan said, “The Oatman Outlaws are a tremendous group that gives back to their community year after year!”

“The Oatman Outlaws enjoy making the holiday season special for the less fortunate children,” Hall said. Throughout the year the group also donates to the Shrine Fund which helps toward transporting children and their families to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
