Developers receive approval for 10-acre amusement park on Las Vegas Strip
The Clark County Zoning Commission has approved plans to build a nearly 10-acre amusement park on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. Developers were given the green light to build one of the world's largest ferris wheels.
Compared to the London Eye, which gives visitors a view of the British Parliament building from 450 feet up, the new Las Vegas ferris wheel will give people a view of the entire strip from 500 feet high. There will be 40 gondolas, each taking up to 25 people for a 30 minute ride. It has been a long time since a developer came to the Clark County Commission asking for permission to build along Las Vegas Boulevard. Half the height of the Stratosphere, the new ferris wheel is already being compared to others around the world. Parents have been without many family-friendly spots on the Las Vegas Strip. Parents have been reluctant to bring their kids here because there is not much for them to do. Plans call for an amusement park that's a mix of the Circus Circus Adventuredome and Town Square. It will have several roller coasters, other amusement rides, but also a number of restaurants and retail similar to Town Square. Unlike some arena proposals, the amusement park doesn't require public funding, leading to a unanimous approval from county commissioners. Convinced this is a "re-invention of the wheel," commissioners are excited about the idea. The project will include 200 construction jobs and 200 full time employees once the project is complete in 2013. Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow.
