Man arrested said he had permission to take stuff
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Martin Wayne Covington, 51, of Fort Mohave, Tuesday afternoon for burglary, a felony.
On Monday morning shortly after 10:00 a.m., deputies responded to a theft report at a residence in the 5600 block of Pearl Street. Deputies contacted the male victim, age 53, who reported that someone entered his property and stole a stair master and two car batteries from his backyard. Investigations determined that a white van was in the area recently. Tuesday morning deputies learned that a male subject, identified as Covington, driving a white van sold a stair master and two batteries to a recycling and salvage business located in the 1500 block of Solano Place. At about 1:00 p.m. deputies contacted Covington outside of a residence in the 1700 block of Hammer Lane. Covington said that he was asked 3 weeks ago to clean up the backyard at that residence. He admitted to taking the stair master and batteries. Covington was taken into custody without incident. He was transported and booked into the Mohave County District II Substation.
