1/14 Golden Shores - Thanks to Paul Maxwell and Neighborhood Watch

I would like to thank Paul Maxwell and his troops for all the efforts to keep Golden Shores safe from crime. I would like to tell everyone that it is far from crime free.

Our home and garage were recently robbed and the magnitude of the damage and the egregiousness of the thieves is astounding. These people must have been in our home for a day or two because they left nothing untouched. They took everything from a diamond ring in a jar of cotton balls to a 300 lb drill press to a rototiller, outboard motors air compressors, tune up kits, sanders, welders, etc.

Only when they had a battery charger hooked up to the car did a neighbor notice something amiss and call police. They left no drawer or cupboard or cubbyhole or piggy bank or set of keys untouched. It must have taken several pick up loads for them to haul all the stuff out and they must have a warehouse to take it too. No pawn shop would accomidate the haul.

But no close neighbor saw a thing or will cooperate with police.

We were planning to retire in Golden Shores and get out of L.A. but we are in a far safer place down here. Crimes of this magnitude don't happen in our city and somebody always has clues or tips.

It seems to me that Golden Shores is too quiet and people are not willing to get involved. All you have to do is leave home for an hour and you could be a victim too. Either people know who is doing this or think it won't happen to them. The police are stretched so thin they are no help.

We will recover but people need to help each other. Otherwise you have just a lawless town run by creepy, drug-crazed thugs.

Sincerely,
Edie Warwick
