1/28 Mohave County - Law enforcement agencies work together on human remains

On December 30th Investigators from the Glendale Police Department traveled to Northern California to follow up on their investigation in the Cynthia Langrall murder. In the course of the investigation they assisted in processing the crime scene where Greg Hawkins took his own life. While doing so they found a hand held GPS device.

Investigators worked with computer forensics experts from the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center (AcTIC) in extracting information from the GPS device. Information discovered from the GPS showed a location of interest south of Kingman, AZ off of Interstate-40.

Members from the Glendale Police Department, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Department and the Peoria Police Department searched the area near Kingman late this morning and found the human remains of a male. The remains have clothing that appears to match what James Keefer was last seen wearing in a surveillance video in Wickenburg, AZ on December 20th, 2009 while in the company of Greg Hawkins.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Department has assumed responsibility of the death investigation in their jurisdiction and is working with the Glendale and Peoria Police Departments to determine a positive identification of the remains. The identification will require the medical examiner to compare DNA samples to determine the identity of the remains. Manner and cause of death will also be verified by the medical examiner.
