Man walks back to accident scene after leaving
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Dustin Lee Burt, 20, of Bullhead City, early Monday 12/28 for aggravated assault, failure to remain at scene of injury accident, felonies, and DUI, misdemeanor.
Shortly after 4:00 a.m., deputies responded to an accident scene in the area of Joy Lane and Club House of where a black pick up truck was upside down on the north side of roadway. The vehicle was unoccupied and the driver was later located at a nearby residence where he was attempting to get help. The driver identified as Zachary Duane Chavez, 17, of Fort Mohave, was transported to Valley View Medical Center by Fort Mohave Fire Department personnel. Chavez was later airlifted to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas where he is currently listed in fair condition. At about 4:45 a.m., as deputies were investigating the accident scene they were approached by a male subject after he exited a 1996 Honda vehicle. The man identified himself as Dustin Lee Burt. He advised that he was involved in the accident and he left the scene because he did not know what to do. He said his vehicle hit the truck when it was passing him. Deputies smelled an odor of alcohol on Burt. During conversations, Burt admitted to having one beer earlier. Following the field sobriety tests (FST’s), Burt was taken into custody and transported to the Mohave County District II Substation where an analysis revealed his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) to be .067%. He was booked into the jail without incident. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. This accident remains under investigation. Call or email us today and let GSX help your business to grow.
